Competition Rules

What is the biggest challenge facing the world today and how would you solve it?
All students of Islamic schools and weekend Islamic Schools located in the USA are eligible for the 2017 UIF Islamic School Essay Competition.
The competition will be divided into three categories as follows:

  • Grades 1 – 5 – essay length 25 to 175 words
  • Grades 6 – 8 – essay length 100 to 300 words
  • Grades 9 – 12 – essay length 200 to 525 words
Grades 1 – 5

  • 1st Prize $500
  • 2nd Prize $250
  • Winning schools will receive matching funds

Grades 6 – 8

  • 1st Prize $750
  • 2nd Prize $500
  • Winning schools will receive matching funds

Grades 9 – 12

  • 1st Prize $1,000
  • 2nd Prize $750
  • Winning schools will receive matching funds
UIF Essay Competition Committee will review all submissions for content, creativity, and grammar to determine the winners in each category. UIF Judges decision will be final.
  • Only one essay may be submitted for each student/contestant.
  • Each essay must reflect the contestant’s own research, writing and original thinking. Students can seek help from teachers, parents or friends.
  • If an essay is deemed plagiarized the contestant will be disqualified.
  • No literary form other than an essay will be accepted.
  • Essays must be typed and submitted through our website.
  • No essay will be accepted by email or mail.
All essays must be submitted no later than March 31st, 2017.
Essays will not be returned to the author and become property of UIF. UIF and/or its affiliate companies may use or reprint the essays without consent. Appropriate citations will be given to the writers.
